"I am not comfortable with a lot of gratuitous compliments," asserts Chef Peter Roscoe. "To me, the biggest compliment is a guest who returns repeatedly. Then I know I have actually reached out and touched someone with what I do."
Despite this humble attitude, Peter has donated thousands of dollars of
goods and services to such causes as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA),
The American Heart Association "Affair of the Heart," United Cerebral Palsy
"Put Your Mussels Where Your Mouth Is" dinner, Share Our Strength, Operation
Frontline cooking classes, and the International Pinot Noir Celebration.
Here is just a sampling of the letters that Chef Roscoe and Fulio's have
received for their generosity:

Dear Peter,
Thank you so much for being our guest chef at this year's Victorian holiday
Dinner! I heard many, many nice comments as visitors were leaving about
the meal. More than a few claimed the food "was the best we've ever had!"
The Clatsop County Historical Society is a private 501c(3) non-profit organization. We receive less than half of one percent of our budget from government sources, relying on admissions, giftshop sales, memberships, special fundraisers, and the generosity of friends in the community. The Holiday Dinner is an important part of our fundraising efforts and would not have been successful without you.
Thank you again for your generosity, professionalism, and a great meal.
Sincerely,
McAndrew Burns
Executive Director
Clatsop County Historical Society
Dear Pete,
Thanks so much for your donation of catering in the home to our Columbia
Invitational auction in May. It was a great addition to our live auction
and brought in a significant contribution. The Board joins me in expressing
our gratitude.
Best regards,
Janet Niemi
Dear Peter,
I would like to thank you for your generous donation to Columbia Memorial
Hospital Foundation.
The dinner you catered in my home was absolutely incredible. The thank you notes I received included - "fantastic," "excellent," "delicious," "thoroughly enjoyed everything served," "outstanding," and "Peter did a wonderful job."
I want to thank you for allowing me to hostess an elegant wonderful dinner party. Not only was the food out of this world, you cleaned everything up. Thank you.
Yours,
Karen Anderson

Dear Friends,
As the 17th season of Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation comes to
an end, we want to personally thank you for your hard work, dedication
and generosity. Without the commitment of the chef community, Taste the
Nation would not be possible. Through your efforts, Share Our Strength
will be able to distribute $4.2 million to more than 200 organizations
fighting hunger and poverty in the US, Canada and abroad.
The impact of our efforts now reaches into nearly every community in America. Since our founding in 1984, we have:
*Distributed more than $74,000,000 in grants to increase the capacity
of the most effective organizations fighting hunger
*Helped finance the construction and completion of the emergency food
assistance network, making sure that there is a place for everyone who
is hungry in America to receive a meal;
*Recruited and motivated thousands of chefs, writers, and business leaders
to join the fight against hunger; and
*Laid the foundation for a 20-year campaign to end child hunger in America.
As you may already know, 2005 will mark Share Our Strength's 20th anniversary year! We will kick off this exciting landmark with our Annual Conference of Leaders in New York City. The conference will be held from October 2nd through October 5th and will be our biggest and best conference ever. The overall goal for this year's Conference of Leaders is that all our attendees leave with an understanding of the landscape of children's hunger as well as Share Our Strength's approach to ending it. We want you to feel empowered with tools to go home, share what you've learned and make a difference. For more information on the Conference of Leaders, visit www.strength.org. Please mark your calendars now!
As always, feel free to share with us any feedback or thoughts about ways we can provide the best support to you and your efforts to grow Taste the Nation in your community.
Again, thank you for your commitment and for sharing your strength to help end hunger.
Regards,
Bill Shore, Founder

Dear Peter,
Thank you for your generous support of KMUN: Independent Radio, and the
only community station serving the Lower Columbia-Pacific Region. Your
donation of ten $20 Gift Certificates - as well as the 4 large Sunday
frittata’s - provided a great burst of encouragement for programmers,
volunteers and listeners ready to support the station - but especially
for those sitting on the fence. You helped coax a total of 114 new members
into the KMUN community.
This Spring Membership Drive was an overwhelming success, raising over $35,000 towards keeping diverse, independent community radio strong; a reassuring way to begin our 21st year. Because of your participation in the fundraising, the whole region has seen your business as a proponent of something bigger than itself: community.
On behalf of all KMUN's many listeners, volunteers, board and staff, I thank you again for your continued support and your commitment to this community.
Sincerely,
Nancy Montgomery
